Mindil Aces is now affiliated with Padres Football Club
So who are Padres?
Uni Padres were formed in 1999 by a group of Uni students from NTU. In 2005 they reformed, as the club now known as Padres Football Club.
In 2007 Padres won the All Age 1 League in senior men's soccer, winning every league match with an average score of 5-0.
Padres have been promoted to the Premier league for the 2008 season and approached Mindil at the end of last season, with a proposal to affiliate the two clubs and develop an U18 team.
Over the last few seasons our club has grown significantly in numbers, but there has been attrition in the older age groups. The club needs a pathway for players to move to senior soccer.
The proposed affiliation has now been accepted by both clubs and will run for 12-24 months. It is subject to reviews and ideally would facilitate a smooth eventual merger.
Sponsorship revenue and finances will be kept entirely separate during the affiliation.
All other junior teams will still be known as "Mindil Aces", whilst the senior teams will still be "Padres". Both clubs are committed to developing an U18 team, playing under the name Mindil Padres. This team is seen as a bridge between the two clubs.
Looking forward to this next phase in the development of Mindil Aces,
Trevor Primmer
President
Mindil Aces Soccer Club
